Again with the attachment requests; broken Trac system

Hello,

I also would like to voice my support for attaching an image (receipt, check image, etc.) to a transaction in Moneydance. I've recently purchased the program after evaluating other options. Both iBank and SEE Finance have this capability.

I read the other forum posts on this topic and support staff said to "vote" for a feature in the Trac system and referenced the item number and link. The ability to login to the Trac system is not functioning. Registration produces an error but apparently the account gets created (perhaps). Attempting to log in produces this error:

  Trac detected an internal error:
  TemplateNotFound: Template "login.html" not found

I'm liking Moneydance so far (that's why I chose it). In these days with online bill pay (generating a check image) and online deposits (generating a check image) having the ability to see the image corresponding to a transaction is important.

I understand there is a workaround using file links in the memo field but not sure how that works.

Thanks!
Todd

    Hi Todd,
The Trac system has been decommissioned. Votes for particular issues are now handled throught this forum.
Once one of the Moneydance Support Staff 'Assign' a ticket for the issue, posting to the thread is the equivilent of voting for it.
I like the idea of having the capability of attaching images to a txn. However, I'm not familiar with the workaround that you mentioned.

    T,

The ticket for attachments is attached to this discussion. By posting in this discussion your interest in the ticket has been registered. This is equivalent to voting for it. We will post on this forum thread if and when there are further developments on this topic.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

    Hi,
I also think having the possibility to attach a document to a transaction would be a great feature for a more powerful MoneyDance.
No matter which is the technical solution for it (attach to an existing path rather than an internal structure...). What's important is to have a prompt way to open a document when related to a transaction.
    Thanks!

I also would love to see the ability to add attachments to txns. Makes it easy to find important receipts, etc.

I too would love this feature. This is the ONLY thing I miss about Quicken. I know this is an old thread, but can anyone describe to me the workaround of linking a file in the memo field?

    Hi JD,
The workaround that I use does not link a txn to a receipt but it does link an Account to a folder that contains the receipts for that Account.
First create a folder to hold your receipts or if you want, create a separate folder for each Account that you want to keep receipts for.
In Moneydance, go to the Account that you want to keep receipts for. From the Menu bar, click on 'Account' then 'Edit Account'. At the bottom of the resulting form, enter the path to that Account's 'Receipts' folder into the 'Website' field.
To access the folder when using Moneydance, from the Menu bar, click on 'Online' then 'Open Account Website'.
I know this is not the ideal setup and that linking the txn to the receipt is what everyone's looking for but I thought I'd just throw this out there for whoever's interested.

Has any progress on this matter been made? I find the capabilities to attach images very convenient and would love to see this added to MD.

We are working on this, though it's proving tricky to implement in a backwards, compatible way. We intend to have transaction attachments in Moneydance 2012, though we don't have a timeline for that release at this time.
