Change in handling 'Other' transactions
As I was going through processing the transactions from a
downloaded file, I came across some transactions in the register
that seemed to be mislabeled. The account being processed was an
Investment account. The transactions were journal entries for
rebates from 12-b1 fees. These were cash added to the account. MD
processed them as transfers from another account. This caused the
other account to need work. I changed these from transfers to
'Miscinc'. Also in the transactions was the quarterly fee. This was
also entered as a transfer. I changed it to a 'MiscExp'. I have
attached a file with the transactions in it.
It looks like the difference in the transactions is the sign of the
amount - no sign vs. minus sign.
Is it possible to have the processing for these changed to
MiscInc/MiscExp instead of transfer transactions?

When you download or import an investment transaction Moneydance does not get to decide the type of the transaction, this is stipulated in the downloaded file.
By default when Moneydance imports a transaction into an investment account that is of type Xfr it set the other side of the transfer to be the first bank account. You must change this. After you import the transaction double click on it in the investment register then go to the "transfer" field on the transaction and change it to the correct account or category. In th case of a fee you should change the transfer field to an expense category such as "Investment:Fee". When you change the transfer field on a transaction in an investment account from "Checking" to something else this will remove the transaction from the checking account. You do not need to change the checking account by hand.

Hi,
The transaction is not of type Transfer. It is of type Other. I
understand how to change transactions of type Transfer. My request was
the handling of type Other. Are type Other considered transfer type
transactions?
Thank you,
Vince Radice
p.s. I had included a copy of the transactions in question in my post.

i am sorry i misunderstood your question.
If a transaction has a TRNTYPE of Other in an ofx file this will be given an action of Xfr in an investment register. The reason why this is not given an action of MiscInc or MiscExp is because MiscInc or MiscExp have to be associated with a particular security. A quarterly fee on an investment account is not associated with a particular security. A quarterly fee should be transfer to an expense category.
