Return from "Show Other Side"

The keyboard shortcut for "Show Other Side", Command+[ on the Mac is a really useful feature. However I think it could be improved.

For example .... I am in a cheque account and have a dividend transaction from a stock. I want to check the transaction in the investment a/c so I use the keyboard shortcut. MD switches me to the investment a/c and I check the transaction entry. All is fine and I want to switch back to my cheque account. I enter the shortcut but nothing happens. I have to lift my hand off the keyboard and select the transaction entry with my mouse. Then I must move my hand back to the keyboard and I can then use the keyboard shortcut.

I would like to suggest that MD selects the entry on the "Other Side" so that I can switch back and forth using the shortcut without having to move from keyboard to mouse and back again.

I realise this is a small point but things like this make a difference when entering and checking many investment transactions.

Thanks for listening.

Best regards,

Steve.

    Hi Steve,
In Windows, using the equivilent 'Show Other Side' shortcut Ctrl-[ Moneydance opens the 'Other Side' in an entirely new instance of Moneydance. I can then toggle between the two open instances of Moneydance using Alt-Tab.
I don't know if this behavior is the same for the Mac or if there is an equivilent to Alt-Tab but I thought I would just throw it out there.

    Hi Kevin,

Many thanks. That's a great reply. I had no idea that MD was creating a new instance.

For any Mac user reading this the Mac keyboard shortcut to switch windows in the same program is Apple/Command + key ( key is located above the Tab key).

Thanks again, Kevin. As a recent switcher from Quicken I find there are many rough edges in MD. However the knowledge, friendliness and helpfulness of these MD forums is brilliant and a welcome breath of fresh air from Quicken's arrogant attitude.

We live and we learn. Wonderful.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

    Hi Jbnyt,

    Glad to help.

I find it particularly useful in Mac Mail .... when I am writing a new message and I want to refer to something back in the main Window. I go back, look at whatever I want, then another click and I am back in my new msg.

Forgive my non-MD post. I will add that I am already finding this shortcut key incredibly useful in Moneydance. Thanks again, Kevin.

    Best regards,

    Steve.
