Could redundant accounts/ categories [one nolonger used but contains transactions] have the ability to be hidden from dropdown selection menus or at least greyed out ?

I made sure those accounts have a zero balance then checked the do not show if zero balance in the edit account window. That way those old accounts don't show up except in the edit accounts on the tool menu. It is sufficient for me for now.

Jack, You can also have these account be "child accounts" of an account with a zero balance and accomplish the same thing.

    Hi Jack

I'm afraid it is not possible to mark categories as defunct with the current incarnation of Moneydance. I'll pass the suggestion on to the developer.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

    Separate, but related...

Navigating a long list of categories is near impossible. Better UI controls for selecting/browsing categories would help. If you would like to vote for it, here are the tickets. Sean has already said he likes the idea so it might even have a chance of being implemented...

I have voted for :http://moneydance.com/trac/ticket/1708#comment:3 as suggested
but really think this feature needs priority as navigation needs improvement - please!

MD 2010 sidebar is only partially beneficial.

This would be a great feature!

How do we vote for new features now? TRAC doesn't seem to allow registering so is there a new tool?

Moneydance has now implemented a feature which permits users to mark an account as "Inactive". This feature is available in Moneydance 2011, which is offered as a free upgrade to those who purchased Moneydance 2010, and for $24.99 for those who purchased an earlier version of Moneydance. To see which upgrade you quality for you can use the key tester tool available at the bottom of the Moneydance purchase page.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
