Has any discussion been transfered from previous forums to here regarding improved reporting facilities.

I would dearly love to see MD have pivot table functionality similar to MS Excel.

Is this on the list of things to do? If so - any idea on release date?

    Hi Jack

I haven't heard any discussion of pivot tables and Moneydance in these forums and a search of google for the terms "pivot table moneydance" results in this discussion as the only relevant result. I had a quick search in the old bug tracking site and did turn up a suggestion for just such a feature. Here is the link

    http://moneydance.com/trac/ticket/1611

So pivot tables is something that has been suggested before and maybe considered for a future release. At this time I have no information of when such might become implemented. Suggestions posted in this forum will be considered by the developers for future incarnations of the software. If lots of people support such a feature it will likely recieve more attention by the developer.

I'm sorry I could not be of more help.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

    Thanks Ben

That was my previous posting too!

Certainly would encourage further reporting tools - no point having a lot of data if its difficult to get data out:

"ability in the reports to have monthly breakup as follows: so for eg: choose last Qtr, show the breakup of the last 3 months in columns"

    Account | Monthly | Jan | Feb | Mar | Total

    Name .... | Ave($) | ($) | ($) | ($) | ($)

    Hi Jack

I completely agree, the more reporting tools the better. The primary developer tells me that there are improvements to reporting coming in the 2009 release of Moneydance. I am afraid I don't have any details on those improvements as yet.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

    Hi Ben

MD2009, not to mention MD 2010 still lacks powerful reporting.

Any talk of pivot tables being included anytime soon.

I am afraid pivot tables are not currently a high priority as very few users have expressed interest in such a feature.

However you can now run the income and expense report with the group by month setting in order to see monthly expense side by side as you suggested in your previous post.

    Sincerely

I am considering switching from MS Money to MD. I find the reporting provided is quite basic. The main feature I would miss is the grid reports in Money (or equivalent in Quicken, which I have used years ago) - not quite pivot reports, but close. So I would like to see reports such as

Summary by payee, with subtotals in columns by tag
    Summary by account and tag
Summary by category and tag (probably the same as above in MD)
Summary by period (month, quarter, year) and tag

So I too would be interested in some support for pivot type reports in MD.

    James,

I have attached a suggestion ticket to this thread for the developers to take a look at.
