Income and Expense report, partially detailed
The Income and Expense report shows only subtotals, no transactions. The Detailed Income and Expense report shows all the transactions for every selected category. I want to be able to select which categories are detailed and which are not. For example, to the left of each category, have a little +/- button to expand or hide the category's transaction info. I do not need to see every transaction for categories like Interest or Mortgage but I do need to see their subtotals. For categories like Sales or Taxes, I would like to see every transaction.
Being able to minimize some categories and maximize others would really help make the report less cumbersome.

Hi info,
When Editing the parameters for the Detailed I & E report, click on Show: 'By Individual'. You can then select the 'Categories' of your choosing.

Yes, I've seen where I can add or remove entire categories with the "Show Individual" option. I don't want to add/remove entire categories, I want to show or hide the transaction details while leaving the subtotal visible.
For example:
Automobile:Gas - I need a subtotal but not every transaction.
Automobile:DMV - I need a subtotal and every transaction.
It would also be nice if there was a way to show the memo field on the same line as the other transaction details. There are many occasions where the Description field just isn't enough. But displaying the Memo field on a second line is awkward and confusing.
Also, since category titles are already taking up two entire rows (the heading as well as the subtotal), they don't really need an entire column as well. The wasted whitespace is annoying when trying to display a lot of data. When outputting the report I understand the category needing it's own column. When displaying the report inside Moneydance, it would be nice if it displayed a little better.
Finally, when double-clicking a column header, it is standard for that column to resize itself to the minimum size that will fit all items. For example, if the longest description is 50 characters, double-clicking the column header should resize the column to 50 characters.
These are all little details but it's the details that make the difference.

Awesome. That's the beauty of software from smaller companies: make a suggestion and it might actually get some attention. One more vote for MoneyDance instead of Intuit or Microsoft.
Out of curiosity, are the changes mentioned in this thread the kind of things that can be done with the Extension Developer's Kit?

Hi,
It is possible to write an extension, it would appear in the extensions menu and not the reports list on the sidebar.
Sincerely,
