Difficulties installing forecaster extension
One of the very FEW things I miss from my days with Quicken is the "Bills" list, which showed my a quick summary of scheduled payments for the upcoming 90 days or so. This allowed me to quickly assess when I needed to shift funds to an account from which several automatic payments would soon be withdrawn, or to get a rough look ahead at my overall cash situation.
This would be an appreciated addition to MD. Important features
for such a list:
* It should include all Reminder transactions for the next 90 days,
2 months, or something like that. * The default amount should be
shown for each Reminder transaction. * The account for each
transaction should be shown, or better yet it should be organized
by account.
Thank you for keeping MD a viable alternative to Quicken!

I am baffled. I have tried the support upgrade you linked to, and others I have dug up, but have yet to figure out how to get Java 6 onto my PowerPC G5 iMac. I have checked Java Preferences -- no version 6.
I am running OSX 10.5.8, which I THINK can support Java 6, but I have gotten nowhere. If you have more ideas, please pass them on. Otherwise, perhaps I should live with this minor quirk until I upgrade my hardware. (It is 7 years old, and getting close to that time.)

a9,
Well, I'm stumped. My next suggestion would be to check in with Apple as to how you could upgrade your Java version, as aside from the upgrade link Ben posted I don't have any other solutions in mind. I'm sorry we couldn't be of more help, but please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

I finally updated my hardware and now have a fancy new iMac, and Java Version 1.6.0_24. I am running MD 2010r3 (757). So I downloaded the latest forecaster-16.mxt, but still get an error when I attempt to "Add Extension From File" in MD. This time the error is: "Error: java.lang.NullPointerException."
Any suggestions?

Hi x9,
Step 2 of the installation instructions for the forecaster call for the user to rename the forecaster-16.mxt file so as to remove the version number to forecaster.mxt

Thank you Kevin. That was explained to me before, but I forgot the step this time around. I appreciate the reminder, and this very handy extension. It does a good job of meeting my balance prediction needs.
Thanks also to Ben, Jon, and Angie for all the attention along the way. Sorry that my old machine and Java version took so much of your time. It all is looking great now.
