Combine several transactions into 1 "Deposit"
I get live checks from an employer that does not offer direct deposit. Each pay-period, I enter my check in MD, but I only make a deposit once a month. I often find myself deleting all the information and re-typing it again into a single transaction which I call deposit. It would be great if MD would like me combine transactions.

Hi JP
I would handle this with a split deposit. For example: In the transaction register create a new transaction. Give it the description "Pay Checks". Press Ctrl-L to bring up the "Edit splits Window" Set the category to Pay Check. Enter the amount in the deposit column. Click done. When you receive a new pay check click on your existing "Pay Checks" transaction in the transaction register. Press Ctrl-L to edit splits and add in the new check. Then when you make the deposit change the date on the split deposit to match the actual deposit date.
Let me know if this is helpful.
Sincerely Ben Spencer

I am currently using splits (they are essential). What I want to do is not have to enter all the federal, state, ect info when I get my 2nd check. I have a reminder that enters most of this for me - i just want to combine both my check reminders into a single deposit.
I'm currently using your suggestion, it would just make my life easier if I could combine 2 transactions (both containing several splits) into a single transaction.

Hi JP
I see what you are saying now. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. This is not currently possible. However I spoke with the lead developer about the possibility merging transaction in this way and he has been considering this for the 2009 version of Moneydance. I cannot promise that it will be included but the feature is on his mind.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
