menu option or clicking save on a report?</p>
<p>I did a few tests and I found that saving a report will use what
ever thousands separators the report was using and
File->Export... does not use thousands separators.</p>

to export all account activity, not the report I'm viewing. The
report is definitely showing this format:<br>
,--- | $ 1,000.00 `---</p>
<p>while the exported (using save button) format is:<br>
,--- | $ 1 000.00 `---</p>
<p>Let me know if there was something else I should have done in
terms of exporting to get the report vs. a detailed list of account
activity.</p>

<p>Ah. Silly me, I just thought of something... I was using the
comma, not tab, delimited export. So numbers <em>couldn't</em> have
commas separating triplets. Perhaps, then, the CSV export option
could get rid of the spaces or use some other format so that
they're recognized by Excel/LibreOffice as numbers?</p></div>jw.hendytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/96781652011-09-01T14:52:45Z2011-09-01T14:52:45ZChanging CSV output format from $ 1 000.00 to $1,000.00 or $1000.00 or just 1000.00 <div><p>Hendy,</p>
<p>Have you tried the "Copy to Clipboard" function in reports? It
copies the report data to your system's clipboard, which can then
be pasted directly into a spreadsheet program. I've found this to
be far more reliable than the "save" or "export" function. Give it
a try and let me know how it goes</p>
<p>Thanks for using Moneydance,</p>

closed the discussion?</p>
<p>That did work. Still has a space between the $ and the number,
but LibreOffice calc was at least able to make sense of it.
Question, though: why have save and/or export if it's known that
they don't work and copy-to-clipboard is the preferred method?</p>
<p>It's far from intuitive to me that copy-to-clipboard would have
been preferred.</p>
<p>Thanks for the suggestion, though. It did work for me.</p>

describing. Which report are you using. When I save the results of
the income and expense report to a tab delimited csv I get commas
as the thousands separator not spaces.</p>

<p>Note that above I said the following:<br>
,---<br>
| Ah. Silly me, I just thought of something... I was using the

| delimited export.<br>
`---</p>
<p>So... maybe it comes down to using tab vs. comma delimited
export. Even still, this would be a suggestion to modify your
current CSV export format because spaces aren't recognized very
well in Calc to allow it to treat them as numbers.</p>
<p>I think the issue is "resolved" in that I have a workable
solution, but I think the suggestion is still valid: you have an
export mode that isn't as useful as it could be.</p></div>jw.hendy
