Reconcilliation on iPad

I have Moneydance installed on my home PC but spend a lot of time working away from home. I have an iPad, but you do not offer the ability to reconcile on this device. I saw a suggestion from 2012 requesting this, and it was going to be looked into. The suggestion was closed in March 2015. Is this solution being development, or maybe even available but I am missing it somehow?

    Hi Paul,

This suggestion is still under consideration and hasn't been implemented yet. I've forwarded your feedback to the developers, so they'll be taking it into consideration.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Probably bad wording. More likely it is meant that the feature is still in the request list and has neither been accepted for implementation nor rejected.

I would suggest the requested feature list is very long

This is a major feature though. What if I was only an iPad owner, which is not so unusual these days?

Whether it is a major feature depends on the user.

For myself I would say that you can reconcile on the desktop, whereas I know of many Investment features that have been requested that there are no practical alternatives for, some of these date back to long before MD2012.

In practical terms MD is not an iPad application per-se, the mobile application was implemented to allow for mobile data entry with the desktop as the primary machine. What you seem to want is a full mobile implementation of MD.

    My 2 cents worth.

Maybe you can help me find another solution.

My wife uses MD at home on our desktop. I travel and have a laptop. It does not seem to be possible to both use the same MD file and update/reconcile from both machines. Is this supported through Dropbox? I tried the other week, but could not get it to work.

It is possible to do that, but with some conditions.

The fundamental requirement is that the Moneydance data set must be in a shared location. IK typically recommend that you move your data set to your dropbox folder and both machines use the one data file, so you had the right idea. The condition is that you cannot both use Moneydance simultaneously since it has not been designed as a multiuser application and to try and both use it at the same time would be likely to result in data corruption, so it requires some co-ordination.

IK have written a knowledgebase article on moving the data set it can be found:

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2014/how-to-move-your-da...

As an aside I would recommend that both machines are using the exact same version and build of Moneydance.

    Hi Paul,

To share your data set between two computers running Moneydance (as opposed to a computer running Moneydance syncing to your iOS or Android devices), you need to move your data set to a folder that's shared by the two computers. We recommend using your Dropbox folder and you can do so by following the directions in this knowledge base article:

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2014/how-to-move-your-da...

to move your data set to your Dropbox folder, then open the data set from there on each computer (only on one at a time, to avoid corruption) and your data will sync between the two computers.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
