Auto filling transaction fields

I am annoyed by the fact that when entering a transaction a number of fields that I have completed are then altered by the program. For example I enter a category and find that as I confirmed the entry, this field has changed to something else. This happens in the Description field, and the amount field. Also when I enter I category and in a previous transaction their were split categories, the old imformation rewrites these boxes. Why cannot the split form only come up when specifically requested.

I've found this workaround: If it is a payment to a recurring payee (like a credit card with lots of splits), when you enter the payee just add some other unique detail, like the due date. That will limit the auto fill and might make your life with md a little better.
    Still learning.

    Hi selwoodml,
If you've edited a downloaded txn, make sure to choose the 'Current Transaction' option from the Confirmation sidebar.
Oftentimes 'Current Transaction' is NOT the default (highlighted) option in the sidebar. Choosing any of the other options will revert the edited txn to the partculars of the chosen Confirmation option.

Kevin, I think you may have misunderstood the the problem being described. I think that the problem being described is the auto completion of the transaction when entering the description in a new transaction.

This is a known issue and currently there is no way to turn off transaction auto completion. There is a suggestion ticket in our issue tracking system proposing adding an option to turn of this feature. I am sure we will get to it at some point and at this time I cannot offer an estimate of when.

    Hi Ben,
    My apologies.
The OP mentioned that as the txn was Confirmed, the edited txn would change.
I was working under the assuption that the user may be using the Key Combo Alt-Enter to confirm the txn which, as you're aware, accepts the currently highlighted Comfirmation option but not neccessarilly the 'Current Transaction' option.

Many thanks for comments. Ben is correct, the detail of the transaction changes automatically. It is very easy to not notice this and get incorrect information in the database.

Many thanks, that sounds like a great idea.
