Editting Categories
Once a category is assigned a type, e.g., income or expense, there is no way to change it.
It looks like some of my categories were assigned the wrong type. For example, HOA Fees is an income category. I am not sure if this occurred when i imported my data or i just made a mistake.
In any case, I cannot change HOA Fees from an income to an expense category, which means it shows up in the wrong place (e.g., as a negative income) in my Income/Expense reports.
The ability to change a category type seems pretty basic and I am surpised it is not availble.

Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately, you can't change the type of a category from income to expense (or vice versa) once its been created.
However, we can resolve this and change the categories of these transactions to the correct type. You'll need to create a new Category of the proper type, within Tools --> Categories --> New, and be sure to select the relevant field within 'income/expense'.
You can search for the transactions/categories you'd like to change by using the 'search' bar at the top right of your register, or by going to the Edit menu --> Advanced Search. Once you've highlighted the relevant transactions, you can right click and select 'Batch Change', then 'Category' to move the transactions from the incorrect category to the new one.
You can also go to Tools --> Categories, and right click the incorrect category, then select 'Open in new window'. Ensure that the 'All' filter is selected at the top of this register window to see all transactions assigned to the category you selected. You can then use the batch change feature to make the relevant changes.
Alternatively, you can download the 'Find and Replace' extension within Extensions --> Manage Extensions, which is a great tool for cleaning up or re-organising your data. Within this extension, you can search categories, and edit/change multiple transactions before confirming the changes into your register.
I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if you need any further assistance getting these categories changed.
