web-based application a future option?
Hi, I'm interested in proposing MoneyDance as an accounting program for my non-profit to use but it has a number of limitations that make it unfeasible at the moment. The selling points so far are its affordable price (though if the price went up at all we wouldn't be able to afford the software as we're a VERY non-profit organization relying currently almost entirely on freeware), its support for multinational currencies, and its ease of use. It's not feasible because we need a system that can be essentially "stored" on the web somewhere and accessed by multiple users. Rather like google calendars, which is what we use for scheduling meetings transcontinentally. If we could somehow use MoneyDance in this way, it would be excellent. I'm not sure if the iPhone app you're working on moves you any closer to this kind of functionality or not, or if something like this is remotely of interest to you.But I think it could be very marketable. Currently the only things out there that work this way are the Quickens and so forth, all of which require you to be hooked into existing bank accounts. If you want to be working with accounts completely separate from those in a bank, you're out of luck. The only other option is to use excel worksheets in google docs or something like that but excel sheets are nowhere near as user-friendly as MoneyDance, and their formulas get a little hinky when you use multiple sheets on the web.
So... just a thought. If you were interested and needed some beta testers, we'd be thrilled to help. And, we'd be a good channel into a big potential market -- the small human rights/social justice non-profit world, which desperately needs affordable tools like this that are easy to use.
My two cents for what they're worth.

Dear Anjie,
Thank you for your suggestions for improvements to Moneydance. I have passed on your suggestion to our developer who will consider it for our next release. Your suggestion is a useful one, but it is not likely that it will be implemented in our next release. I encourage you to check out our iPhone app when it is released to see if it helps Moneydance to better meet your needs.
Our wiki is integrated with our feature request and bug reporting system. Please feel free to use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. We now also have voting on all existing tickets, which helps us determine which requests have the most demand.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
