How do I know if Moneydance will download transactions from my bank or Credit Union? Quicken used to be able to do that.

My CU is Scott Credit Union, web site is

Also bank with Navy Federal CU

I downloaded the trial version but I see those features are not available. Before I plunk down my hard earn money on your program I need to know if its supports downloading from these institutions. If not I might have to go pack to Quicken on the PC which I'm not looking forward too...

What is your current version of MoneyDance and how are upgrades handled? Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mike,

You may have previously connected to your financial institution with Quicken, but there are two methods that personal finance software can use to access your accounts: Direct connect and Web connect.
With Web connect, the software basically connects to your bank's website and downloads and imports OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files automatically. This is likely what you had been using with Quicken. Direct connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires different login credentials than you would use to log into your banks website. Moneydance only supports automatic connections through direct connect and not web connect.

You can view a list of our supported financial institutions here -
If your bank is on the list, then they support direct OFX connections. You can get up online banking with these banks within Online --> Set Up Online Banking. Then select 'New Connection' and choose your financial institution from the list.

If your bank is not listed, then unfortunately they do not support direct OFX connections, which Moneydance (and other financial software) requires in order to talk directly to a bank.

The best way to get your files into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance.

You can also open your bank's download page directly (after entering the appropriate address in the Account->Edit Account menu) by going to the menu bar and selecting Online->Open Account Website, which makes the download process easier.

Moneydance 2015 is our most recent version. You will never be forced to upgrade Moneydance in order to keep using it. Additionally, once you have purchased, you will be entitled to the next version of Moneydance for free, and further versions will discounted.

I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
