enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so
you'll be able to fully test things like importing from other
programs and connections with your bank. If you decide to purchase
the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license
key (purchased from http://infinitekind.com/purchase)
simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions.

Guide is not detailed enough. The guide tells you what the program
does, but not how to do it. I tried entering investment
transactions and was not able to make the program work. I’m
sure the problem was that I was doing something incorrectly, but
without support I couldn’t figure it out. I think that is why
Quicken is including phone support in their 2016 editions

assist you. What specifically is the problem you're having entering
an investment transaction?

Nonametag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/388108202016-01-01T20:32:01Z2016-01-01T20:32:02ZUser Guide

I’ll try once more, being as specific as I can:

I downloaded the trial version.

I started by setting up my accounts….20 to 30 including
about 6 investment accounts….each investment account will
contain from 1 to 10 securities…..I entered the 12/31/15
balances from my existing financial management software into the
new moneydance accounts, as a total in the “initial
balance” line, and dated that 1/1/2016.

I then set up my “categories.” So far, so good. My
existing software and the moneydance program showed the same
“net worth”.

My next task was to enter the individual securities to the
investment accounts. The investment accounts already showed the
total balance (in dollars) that I had manually entered into the
program. My thought was that I would either “transfer”
securities into the account at no cost, or “buy” the
securities into the account at todays market price.

I tried for 1-1/2 hours to do that. I tried doing that with all
the available screens. My first intuitive effort failed, so I
decided to check the User Guide. I did not find the information I
needed in the User Guide. So I tried numerous other intuitive
approaches. Sometimes I would get close, but ultimately no
success.

So what I am looking for is a menu-driven detailed approach on
how to enter securities. Did I make a mistake by entering the total
dollars into the account before I entered the securities? I thought
that as I entered securities, the program would deduct that value
from the initial value and the final balance for the account would
be the remaining cash balance in the account.

This is fairly complicated, but I hope with this one way
conversation that you can understand my situation. Again, thank you
for your prompt response.

You have to also create the security in Moneydance and add it to
the investment account, User Guide pg 52.

A security may be in one or more investment accounts, hence its
creation is done separately and static and global information about
the security held in just one place.

Once you have added the security to the investment account you
can then enter buy transactions.

I would suggest entering the security buy transactions using the
original price paid, this way any capital gains should get reported
correctly.

dwg
