I have been using Quicken for years and just changed to Windows 10. I see I can upload Qif files, but wanted to know if I purchase am I buying indefinitely or just for 12-14 months? I see quicken now "leases" the sw and requires you to repurchase every year. Is money dance like this as well?

I'm a fellow user.
Moneydance has quite a different model to Quicken.
You purchase a license to use the current release, this also includes a free upgrade to the next major release, if you want to upgrade after that there is a 50% discount.
However you can use the purchased version for as long as you wish, there are of course no guarantees that the current release will work on a future operating system release, or if using Online banking that the banks may make a changes that necessitates an upgrade.
I would suggest you download and try the software out for free, there is no time limit just a 100 manually entered transaction limit, which can be unlocked if you decide to purchase.

Hi Henry,
I see that fellow forum member dwg has already replied.
When you purchase a license for Moneydance, it is a one-time charge.
Take a look at these two Moneydance KB articles regarding the rather liberal and generous licensing policy.

If I may make a suggestion and if you haven't done so already, download the free, trial-version of Moneydance to see if it suits your needs.
You can d/l the free, trial-version here:

Thank you both. I am going to try your suggestion and utilize the free version first.
I am going to upload my qif file I had downloaded on my old computer which had Quicken and try importing it into Moneydance. MD seems to have more functionality than Mint which was recommended by pcmag, but I find it lacking. Mint doesn't allow you to see projected balances in say checking which is a big downside.

Hi Henry,
For an excellent tool to chart forecasts, look to the Money Foresight extension..
