Accounts with an "x" after them
When I imported the QIF file there were new accounts with an X suffix. Why?

Hello,
We've seen this when importing from some versions of Quicken. A method that some versions of Quicken has used with initial balances is to transfer the amount from the same account, so it does a transfer from itself.
As Moneydance is based on double-entry bookkeeping principles this is a invalid thing to do. The program sometimes tries to make sense of these invalid transactions by creating another account of the same name with an "X" appended to the name. To see if this is what has happened open this account, and see if it has a single entry in it which reflects the opening balance of the account.
If it does you can open the register of the main account (without the X), go to Account -> Edit Account from the menu bar, and set an initial balance for that account. Then you should be able to remove the account with the X at the end of the name and the transaction in it.
If that doesn't seem to be your situation, is there any general type of transactions that seem to be in that X account?
