Why do my accounts and categories get prefixed with restored and id numbers after restarting Moneydance?

I just purchased Moneydance, with the intent to switch from Quicken Essentials. This problem repeats if I follow these steps:
- After unzipping the file (build 1358), I choose the "Migrate from Quicken Essentials" option from the Welcome screen.
- I then point Moneydance to the .quickendata file then have Moneydance open and import the data.
- All looks good at this point and I register Moneydance.
- I close the application, then reopen it, the file with my imported data opens up automatically.
- In almost every place the accounts and categories are visible, they're prefixed with restored and id numbers. On this last test, the prefix was:
        Restored num=8248511 id=bbd028fd-2e01-460a-a440-1ee6507af66c 20160323

What can I do to keep Moneydance from doing this?

Thanks,
Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Please accept my apologies for the issues you've experienced, unfortunately you've encountered a known bug in Moneydance.

I've attached a file called "fix_restored_accounts.py" that should resolve this problem for you. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance data set, just in case something goes wrong. You can create a backup using the "File --> Export Backup" menu option.

To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1. In Moneydance, click on the Extensions Menu and choose the Manage Extensions option.
    2. From the list of available extensions, choose the Python Interface extension, then click Install to download the extension and finish to complete the installation.
    3. Close the Manage Extensions window.
    4. Again, click the Extensions menu. This time, choose the Python Interface option.
    5. In the python window, click the read from file button and load the file from wherever you saved it. You'll get a confirmation message when the script is finished. Close the window when done.

Hopefully, that will work. You may need to re-add some accounts to your sidebar after running this script. You can do so using the "plus" sign in the bottom left corner of the Moneydance window, underneath the sidebar.

Please let me know if you continue to encounter issues, and apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Actually no, that didn't help. After restarting my computer a few days later, all the categories and accounts had the "Restored..." information on them again. I ran the file again, per instructions above, but found that some transactions and one account didn't get fixed.
This was after working on my data for a while. Trying to fix the data after this error only took more time.
I'm bailing on this software and will ask for my money back. I can't trust it.
