Batch change of category from expense to income - transactions are deleted in bank account

I have just realised that the original incorrectly imported income category was imported into an expense master category. When I do the batch change it reverses the transactions so that a debit becomes a credit and the bank account transaction is therefore cancelled. It was originally correct in the bank account ie an expense transaction was showing in the income category as negative income and in the bank account as an expense.
