Yes, you may. Also, if you transfer money from one account to the other, as long as the account the money is transferred to is listed in the category field it will show the transfer in both accounts. It works like paying a credit card amount from a checking account. I have three checking accounts set up. One for my wife, one for myself and an expense account. I transfer money between them and it keeps track of it all. Any of the accounts can be used to pay a credit card as well.

To add: you can create new accounts by going to Account -> New Account from the Moneydance menu bar. There is no limit to the number of accounts you can have.
