You need to find your old MoneyDance master data set. The file extension will be .moneydance not .moneydancearchive(which is the backup). You may have to search your Mac for this (sometimes it hides within the actual application moneydance container; you can move this file without problems).

From memory I think that there is a MD database upgrade somewhere after 2014, and equally you do need a later version for it to work on Catalina.

Personally, if you are still able, I would download the latest MD 2020.1 (not the beta preview 2021) and install / upgrade on your old Mac and confirm your database opens ok. Then I would copy your .moneydance file to the new Mac, also install 2020.1, and then file/open this file (not import). It should work.

Lastly, I’m not sure if your license will still be valid on 2020.1. On your old Mac in MD go to Help/register and copy your key. Do the same to enter on your new Mac.

Very lastly, do you sync to other computers/mobiles? If not, great. If you do I would be inclined to turn off all syncing first on your old Mac, reset the syncing, and only turn it back on when all working.

Of course back up everything before you start!!

Hope this helps
