Sell me
Quicken has fallen to my crap list. I am leaning towards money dance. I am assuming you know your competitor; can you tell me what quicken has that money dance doesn't? Followed by a few answer to my questions. #1 what does your bill pay go through. Your own program, a 3rd party, could I use quicken bill pay with your system. #2 I seen your list, and it looks my bank is good to go (Utah Community Credit Union) This mean all transaction are downloaded, correct? #3 Does Money Dance track mortgages? #4 I assume you have bill reminders, that I can then send my bills through Money dance? #5 Can you create, and monitor budgets?. #6 By biggest concern with money dance is support. Do you have Instant messaging, or a number to work through issues?
Thanks for your time
Jared

Hi Jared,
If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program before you decide if you would like to purchase it. The demo version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test importing your data from Quicken and your financial institution.
I would recommend following the steps in this article to export your data from Quicken and import to Moneydance. In particular be sure to specify you Import into new account rather than existing account. And you set the source to "From another program".
It is highly recommended to export all Quicken data into a single file - doing so makes the import process much smoother. The one exception to this is if you have accounts in more than one currency. If thats the case, then you can follow these steps to export multiple QIF files.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from here.
Moneydance supports Direct Connect, and you can view a list of financial institutions that support this feature here. If your bank also supports BillPay then you'll be able to setup this feature in Moneydance. You can setup online banking with these banks within Online --> Set Up Online Banking/Bill Payment. Then select 'New Connection' and choose your financial institution from the list.
You can track mortgage payment by creating a loan account within Moneydance. You can read how to setup and track an existing loan within the User Guide, specifically Chapter 11, Page 70.
You can setup Transaction reminders within Moneydance, which can be one-off payments or setup on a repeating schedule. These reminders can also be entered into the register automatically or manually. You can read more about reminders here.
There are two types of budget available within Moneydance, the mixed interval budget format which you can read about here, and the Newer budget format which is detailed here.
Unfortunately we don't offer phone support, but you can contact us via this support forum as you have done, and a member of the support team (and sometimes a knowledgable customer if your discussion is public) will get back to you. We do also have a public slack channel which you can access here, however responses via Slack wont necessarily be quicker than via the forum. Our support agents are based across the world so no matter where you are located, you shouldn't have to wait too long to hear back from us.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance.

I bank with UCCU (Utah Community Credit Union) and is supported for
downloads. They also have bill pay. However I cannot get it to work on
money dance. The downloads though is flawless at this point. Any suggestion
with bill pay?
Thanks

Hi Jared,
It appears your bank supports Direct Connect for automatic downloads, and a version of Bill Pay through their own site. Unfortunately it seems they do not support Bill Pay via Direct Connect, from the information I've located on your banks website and from previous discussions with other customers.
If this is a feature your bank has recently added, please advise and I can pass to our connection speciality, who can check if we're able to set this up.
