Import from Banktivity

I have exported .qif file from Banktivity (ex ibank). It imports to Moneydance, but all transactions end up assigned to the same category, apparently chosen arbitrarily. With years of data and multiple accounts, correcting that is not a manual job. I can see all categories have come across - they show in a drop down list, but somehow the original assignment has been lost in translation.

    Hi,

Can you confirm you followed these steps when importing your data. The instructions are for Quicken, but should be similar when exporting a QIF from Banktivity. In particular make sure you specify to Import into new account rather than existing account. And you set the source to "From another program".
You may also wish to refer to this article which details possible problems after QIF import.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance getting your data imported correctly.

Great, glad to hear you've got this resolved!

If you're new to Moneydance, you may want to check out the User Guide, specifically the first few chapters which detail getting started and setting up your accounts. You can also find the knowledge base articles here.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance.

    Hi again,

I have discovered that there is no support for the Polish currency. While
certainly not one of the majors, I would imagine that it would be in higher
demand than Zambian Kwacha (really?) which is on the supported list. I have
one account in Poland, so it is important to me - is there a way to win
    there?
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

I would recommend checking out the User Guide, specifically Chapter 14 which details how to add, edit or delete a currency.

To view the list of currencies, go to Tools --> Currencies. You can select the '+' button to add a new currency. Once created, you can select this currency as default - You may then have to restart Moneydance for the changes to take effect.

No problem Peter! The User Guide is quite a lengthy document, so just let me know if there's anything you can't locate.
