You are not viewing the txn. You are viewing one of the splits in the register for that category only. You need to select the actual account that the txn is stored in on the left side bar to get the account register.
This is the account where the transaction is stored. This throws off the ENTIRE balance for the account. Because of this problem for this and other transactions (hundreds of them) my account shows a very large negative current balance. Currently MD is useless for a Quicken replacement.

yes I have 2 splits for the same account because that is the way they are presented to me. There is nothing wrong with this and the QIF file is correct. Quicken readily accepts it and so should MD. Repeating the QIF fileis correct.
