I exported quicken (everything) to a qif file and imported into a new Moneydance system. Moneydance does not handle split transactions properly resulting in a completely useless system. Apparently it Moneydance only uses the LAST split amount for the transaction amount.

That's simply not true... Perhaps your QIF import file was not correct? MD uses the total of all split lines for the txn total.

That is demonstrably not true.I used Quicken export to create file. Here are the relevant lines in Quicken And Moneydance

The amount in the MD transaction is the LAST ENTRY in the Quicken split.

If the .qif file is incorrect then Quicken screwed it up.

You are not viewing the txn. You are viewing one of the splits in the register for that category only. You need to select the actual account that the txn is stored in on the left side bar to get the account register.

And / or the import might have screwed up.

The [brackets] indicate you are viewing the split line.

This is the account where the transaction is stored. This throws off the ENTIRE balance for the account. Because of this problem for this and other transactions (hundreds of them) my account shows a very large negative current balance. Currently MD is useless for a Quicken replacement.

Then the qif may be faulty. If you were to share it, or a sample, someone could check it out.

Might also be worth posting a screenshot of Show Transaction Details.

Ok. Can you right click again. Choose show other side. Then when the other side appears, do right click and show transaction details again and copy paste that data here.

As you said, you have a one split txn. Thus the qif import file was probably not correct.

We know qif does work and we know that import of splits works and we know that MD splits work.

So, without seeing the file it’s hard to help further.

yes I have 2 splits for the same account because that is the way they are presented to me. There is nothing wrong with this and the QIF file is correct. Quicken readily accepts it and so should MD. Repeating the QIF fileis correct.

Understood. But without seeing your qif, or a sample of the qif that doesn’t work, it’s impossible to help you further. Sorry.
