Request Option

I am currently considering purchasing MoneyDance as an alternative to Quicken (which I've used for years). The only thing I dislike about your program is that I cannot open my file directly to the check register.
Why must I use two clicks just to get there (start page then checking)?
Could you perhaps consider an option to open a "favorite account" or something of that nature in a future version?
Thanks

    Hi Tom,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

From the Welcome to Moneydance window (Window->Welcome to Moneydance) at the bottom left, you can find the option to select: Open this window or Re-open Last File, When Starting. If you choose to Re-open the Last File, when you launch Moneydance it will reopen your preferred file in the Summary Page. Is this what you what you are referring to?

Hi Maddy, and thanks for your response.

Yes, I did choose that option when initially setting up MoneyDance, but the program still opens up to that file's summary page.

What I am requesting is the option to SKIP the summary page entirely and go straight to the check register when opening MoneyDance.
If that is not currently an option, I was hoping that it might be added in a future release.
    Many Thanks,
    Tom Wilson

I think I understand what you mean now and I will refer your suggestion to the development team.
What you could try in the meantime is hiding the Side Bar from View->Hide Side Bar, perhaps it is better that way?

Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you Maddy.
Your suggestion to hide the sidebar still defaults to the summary page when Moneydance is reopened.
I would like for the program to open immediately to the check register, totally bypassing the summary page. I do not need or use any of the information that is displayed. I just want a simple checkbook register.
    Thanks again,

    Hi Tom,
I'm just a fellow user and I understand your request. I'm not sure if you've any programming interest or experience, but I think that what you desire might be possible from the command line or a python stub with a little work.
    Check out the thread here:
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/moneydance-developme...

which might be adaptable to what you want, although I don't have any direct experience nor time to investigate on your behalf, sorry.

There are plenty of folk (fellow users) who might be able to help further. I'd suggest posting again in the "Extension Development" discussion. There's little to lose! :-)

    Cheers,
    Tony

I'll definitely look over that site Toni. Not sure if I will be able to figure it out but I'll certainly give it a try! Thanks for the tip!
