While exporting from Microsoft Money though I am selecting one active account at a time for some reasons contain multiple accounts some are even in closed status. When I import into Money Dance I found this happening. My goal is to import only active accounts.

So is there a way I can select multiple accounts at a time and 'delete'?

Any help is appreciated.

    I'm a fellow user.

When you import transactions if any of the transactions is a transfer of funds between the account you are importing to and another account then that other account will be created if it does not already exist.

Moneydance follows accounting rules and therefore each transaction is a transfer between registers, in other words there are two sides to each transaction. You cannot just have one side.

This is where I suspect your other accounts have come from. If the other accounts were to be deleted all transaction will be deleted, both sides of the transaction you cannot have orphans.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for your response.

As a work around instead of deleting in Moneydance I can mark the selected accounts as closed, right?

Yes in Moneydance you can mark the accounts as "inactive".

This is the recommended thing to do with closed/obsolete accounts.
