A typical CSV line is "2;-;Fuel", where "2" indicates sub-category (under a previous "1"/category").
Right now I do not have a QIF representation for the Category list, just a CSV file.
Questions:
- any way to delete all default/existing Moneydance categories? - is Import operation to be conducted with "Ignore", "Ignore", "Category" as a field definition P.S. purchased the Moenydance pkg about 1/2 hour ago, with the expectation that I would find a way to do the above.
I have been able to Import the Accounts list I have, without any problems.

juarez Diastag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/495910052022-01-10T20:36:18Z2022-01-10T20:36:18Zimport

I'm a fellow user.

I do not know of a way to bulk delete categories.

A user has created a script that can load categories from a CSV file.

Useful scripts package/zip

Import categories script.

However I do not know if it would handle the format you have, categories are usually specified like: category:sub-category:sub-category

dwg
