In summary - This is an investment account. I am trying to balance
the Bank
Register function. I imported in a QIF file all the Quicken data.
It
doubled many of the transactions with $0 value transactions. I
killed
those, Now i am trying to correct the partial splits. On the
categories
side of the split is the following:
Liability account for the mortgage balance
Category for mortgage interest.
In the import from Quicken, it accepted the liability account
(principal
paid) portion of the split and recorded that in the Bank Register.
It DID
NOT accept the mortgage interest part of the split, thus each debit
is
understated. I thought I could individually correct each
transaction, but
the program DOES NOT give me the ability to split transactions.

Bob Mathewstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/370449162015-06-05T00:00:58Z2015-06-05T00:00:58Zsplit categroies

You can only split a transaction on the parent side of the
transaction. I suspect in the case the parent side is in the
liability account. Try splitting the transaction there.

account is the parent. I experimented a bit and this is not useable
for me. Any way to change an account from being the parent. One
would want the checking account to be the parent.
Thanks
transfer is the parent side and so it is determined randomly when
the QIF file is imported. As you enter transactions manually into
Moneydance you can determine which side is the parent as the parent
side is the side that you enter the transaction in. However there
is no way of changing which side is the parent on an existing
transaction short of deleting the transaction and reentering it in
the desired account.
