We have used banktivity for years. Until the past 4 months we have been able to receive account information directly from our bank to our banktivity software on our MacOS Manterey version 12.6 from our bank, First National Bank of Fort Smith. Now, we have to enter each transaction manually from the bank statement. Does Moneydance provide bank account download to our Moneydance account? What is the monthly charge for Moneydance including cloud, and bank account downloading? How do I start with Moneydance?

   The downloaded version of Moneydance is a full working version with the only limit being a maximum of 100 manually entered transactions, with no time limit. Imported files from other financial programs and your bank have no limit on imports, provided that you do not confirm them.    For the future Moneydance never sunsets the version it releases. So, you don’t have to upgrade. If you won’t to upgrade the next version is free (say 2021 to 2022) and from then on you get a 50% discount. All upgrades within a version are free.

   There are a number of free ways to import data from your bank, see https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay
   The most popular method is called Direct Connect however a number of banks are dropping this system in favour of outsourcing to a third party. Maybe this is what happened to you. Moneydance has therefore set up an optional service called Moneydance + were they have teamed up with a company called Plaid. As Moneydance has to use a third party there is a subscription of 2$/month. I took a look and it looks like your bank is supported, see screen shot, however as I am not a customer I can’t test.    Moneydance is a computer based application and not on the cloud. The only time you would use a cloud server is if you want to run Moneydance on a number of computers and say mobile devices, e.g. phones and sync data between them. Then Moneydance uses an internal sync engine. With this I used a free Dropbox account.
