To transfer money from one account to the other, enter in the
transaction in one account, and select the other account in the
category field. When you look at the other account register, you
should then see the 'other side' of this transfer transaction. I'm
not entirely sure what you mean about doing this "automatically,"
but if you could explain what you mean in more detail, I could
possibly offer suggestions.

your directions, the $100 does not "automatically" appear in
account #2. The only way I can get the $100 into account #2, is to
open account #2 and enter the $100 manually. What am I doing
wrong?

Can you confirm that you are selecting Account #2 in the
category field of this transaction? If so, if you right click on
this transaction in the first account and choose to Show Other Side
of the transaction, in which account or category do you end up?

clicked and sure enough the $500.00 showed up in what appears as an
account MD created it is not acct.#2. The $500 did not join the
$200.00 in acct.#2. I am totally confused and at this point not
happy with Moneydance.

aussigertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/402262392016-07-01T03:25:17Z2016-07-01T03:25:17ZSwitching funds from on account to another

That would seem to indicate that some other account or category
is being chosen for this transaction in the category field besides
the other account. Perhaps you have created or are selecting a
category with a similar sounding name? Your accounts should be
listed before any categories in the category popup for new
transactions, so you shouldn't have to scroll much at all to reach
the other account name. If you go to Tools -> Categories from
the menu bar, is there a category with the same (or very similar)
name as your account? If so, that may be what you are selecting by
mistake.
