Transferring Data From Quicken

I have had it with Quicken and am considering switching to Moneydance.

As of yesterday, my Quicken data file is "damaged" and Quicken will not open it. 2 hours with their customer support could not determine what the problem is not any means of repairing it. Is there anyway to import the data into Moneydance since I cannot access the Quicken export functions for that file?

    Hi Doug,

I'm afraid you do need to export your data from Quicken before it can be imported into Moneydance. I believe Quicken backups are QDF files which are Quicken data files that can only be read and used by Intuit products. Unfortunately, a backup file from Quicken will not import. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you.

If you are able to gain access to Quicken again and are able to export your data in QIF format, you can follow the steps in this article to import your data.

Thank you. Not the news I was hoping for. Will probably move ahead with your product anyway. I can’t imagine investing the time to start over with the product that created the problem in the first place.
