Hi,
I have downloaded the moneydance software as a free trial with 100 possible transactions. I am in the process of transferring all my accounts from Microsoft Money 2003 but am having some difficulty moving the investment account where there are some UK investment trust shares. I have been told that I have to transfer them in 2 stages / one for the cash and the other for the investments.
I wonder if you could explain exactly what I have to do as I don't seem to be able to export the individual investment trusts.
Thanks for your help.
Graham

    You create an investment account
    You create all your securities
In the investment account, you go to the securities tab (top right), actions, add security. Add each security you want in the account
Then you (optionally) need to provide the account with cash.. Normally this is a transfer in from a bank account to the investment account... If you don;t supply the cash, then the cash balance will go negative
    Then you 'BUY' the securities

    Hi Stuart,

Is there a way to import all the transactions for each Security from
Microsoft Money? I bought some of the shares in 1993.

And how do I link the bank account to the investment account?

    Thanks for your help.

You need to export each account's raw transactions from Microsoft Money into a QIF file. Moneydance can import QIF files

    Hi,

I have exported and imported the details of the cash account from the
investment account / but I can't seem to find a way to export the raw
transactions of the details of each share that I bought and sold and the
price and date. Any idea what I have to do to find those to export into
    a qif file?

One of the other users did a Migration from Microsoft Money, I expect he will respond in due course with his notes on the migration.

    Hi Graham

I still run Microsoft Money Version 14.0.120.1105 so was able to test the steps below.
I hope your version works the same.

In money click FILE – EXPORT select LOOSE QIF – OK.
Select the location to save the QIF file SAVE IN and also edit the FILE NAME so it is exactly the same as the Investment account you are exporting – OK
    Select INVESTMENT – OK
Select the Investment Account from the ACCOUNT LIST – CONTINUE.
The EXPORT is Complete – OK

You need to do this for each investment account.

    This article at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/importing-data-from-other-pro...
Covers importing this QIF file into Moneydance.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your help Derek.

I still have to go over it all, but it seems that has imported all the transactions.
