Go to tools >
categories, select the security then click edit. Now toggle on
inactive. This will keep them from showing up on the scroll down
menu.

You should be able to edit the category filed of the div
transaction to any of the income/expense categories. I am not sure
why this happened. Did you double click the transaction to bring it
into edit mode? Were you able to scroll completely down the
category menu when you selected the category field.

If it happens again, please take a screen shot of the
transaction and attach it to the thread. A simple hint is when you
are entering in a category field if you put in the first few
letters the scroll down menu will narrow the choices down.

If you delete the security you will delete all the transactions
associated with that security. Is there a reason you wish to remove
the security?

I wasn't sure if there would be a problem with having a security as
both a category and a security.

As regards editing the divx transaction I couldn't scroll beyond
the expense categories in the category field. If it happens again I
will provide you with more info.

I wanted to remove some securities I no longer own just to
reduce the list. As a follow on question why do some securities
appear on the summary page "Stock Price" list and others not? It
doesn't seem to relate to current ownership.

G Hollandtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/373029062015-07-08T21:42:45Z2015-07-08T21:42:45ZSecurities imported as categories

When creating securities in MD the default is to show on summary
page. When you imported from Quicken some of the securities may
have imported with show on summary toggled on and others toggled
off.

To toggle show on summary page on go to the securities detail
window for that security, click the history button, then click edit
next to the name. The show on summary page toggle on/off should be
at the bottom of the window.

securities into Moneydance and they were all automatically tagged
to appear on the summary page. About 30 securities did not appear
on the summary page even though they were tagged. I have since
discovered that I can solve the problem by editing the security and
untagging it and then reediting it and tagging it. It must be an
import glitch.

Although I am new to Moneydance I really like what I see so far
and have committed to migrating from Quicken. Just one negative
comment - some more context sensitive help would really assist a
new user. I find that I have to keep the user guide open in the
background so that I can get more help when I need it.

G Holland
