Keyboard shortcuts -Ubuntu

I just started using moneydance, and so far I like it, but all my transactions are uncategorized. So I need to categorize them. It'd be really nice if there was a keyboard shortcut to go directly to editing the category field for the currently selected transaction. That would be great for being able to manually update a lot of fields without having to go to the mouse. Otherwise the key sequence to edit a category is Enter, Tab, Tab, Tab, which is lengthy to do with many transactions.

Also, sometimes hitting Enter to edit a transaction does not assign keyboard focus to the date field and the subsequent Tab entries don't seem to do anything. This seems like a bug.

    Hi Erik,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Generally for Keyboard Shortcuts in Moneydance, you can refer to this article of the Knowledge base.

As for the keyboard issue you have reported on Ubuntu, you may want to try uninstalling Zoom (if you are using this app).

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Hi, thanks for the link. It seems the keyboard shortcut I would like (go directly to editing the category field of the currently selected transaction) is not present. Could you consider this a feature request?

Also, I do not have Zoom installed, so that it is not the cause of the keyboard issue.

    Hello,

You are correct, there is no shortcut that will take you directly to the category field. I will pass this feedback on to our developers.

When the keyboard goes out of focus like you describe, does it stop working entirely in Moneydance, or is it just for that particular transaction? Can you then click into the transaction and use the keyboard? I'm just trying to narrow down exactly where and when the keyboard issue seems to arise for you.

    Hi Ethan,
Yes the keyboard seems to stop working entirely in Moneydance when that happens. I cannot hit escape or anything else I've tried to with the keyboard to interact with Moneydance. If I click to another window and click back to Moneydance the keyboard works again.

There are time when something similar happens when I hit enter to accept changes I've made to a transaction. Moneydance will appear to freeze, but if I click out and click back there will be a brief moment where I can see a dialog popup (maybe the confirm changes dialog?) but then it disappears and my transaction was saved.

Actually I just noticed, sometimes when this happens, if I start typing it will enter into a field in the register. Sometimes it will be in the correct field and sometimes not. But what's missing is the visual indication of the field that has focus.
