Hello,
You should not delete your old accounts, as this will delete all the transactions that go from those accounts to others, probably including accounts that you want to keep. Instead, you can open the registers of the accounts you no longer want to use, go to Account -> Edit Account from the menu bar, and check to mark the account as inactive. You can also right click on any item in your left sidebar to remove that account from view. If you need to access these accounts again for some reason, you can always find them by going to Tools -> Accounts from the menu bar.
Are the transactions in this account correct, and all that appears off is the balance? If so, you probably just need to enter in the initial balance of the account, which is the value of the account before you have transaction information in your register. Open your account register, go to Account -> Edit Account from the menu bar, and enter in your initial balance in that field.
