I have been using Reckon Accounts personal plus for over 10 years. I am wanting to switch to something a little more up to date with a one off purchase rather than a subscription, but would like to transfer all of my data to the new sysytem

No other program will read Reckon files, they are in a proprietary format.

So it is necessary to use Reckon to export the transactions, QIF although not perfect, is the best format to use for migrations. Quite some years ago, Reckon removed the Export In QIF format from the export menu. There was however a keyboard sequence that could be used to temporarily add it. I do not know if it is still available but is initially worth trying.

If you use the key sequence <Ctrl> <Shift> Z. You will hopefully see that there is now a third entry in the list, QIF File.

This is however not a permanent change, it must be done every time you restart Reckon.

A restriction still exists that you can only export to QIF one account at a time. It is not possible to select all accounts and then export all to a single QIF file. So you will need to export the data account by account, this is still better than the alternatives.

Moneydance, and other programs, can import QIF files.

I would suggest you download and try Moneydance in trial mode, imports are unlimited in this mode with the only restriction being 100 manually entered transactions.

    Hi Ron,
Our free trial version is available for downloading on this page.

The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions.

Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.

If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.

You can find the Moneydance knowledge base here which will be useful if you're using the program for the first time.

We'd be happy to provide guidance if you have any questions or need assistance getting setup.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
