Hi,

I've been looking at many of the alternatives, but keep thinking about returning to Moneydance. Happy to see it's just been updated. One feature I need is for the iOS app to allow for switching between files. I saw that that is currently not available.

Do you have a timeframe of when the iOS app will be updated and whether you'll add that feature?

Thanks

Paul

    Hi Paul,

We do also have long-term plans to do have a full version for iOs and Android, however it will be a little while. I'm afraid I cannot supply a timeframe for this. We have already setup the syncing infrastructure for it, but an app like Moneydance is large enough that there are a lot of details to work out still. There's an existing ticket in our ticketing system regarding this, so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

I wasn't asking about a full iOS version, although that's interesting to know.

I was asking about switching files in the iOS app. And whether that might be included in an upcoming update. Couldn't that be possible prior to the planned full version?

    Hi Paul,

There is an existing feature request ticket for the ability to have multiple data files available in the app, but we don't have a timeline for possible implementation. I have attached the ticket to this discussion. This is equivalent to voting for it, and you'll automatically be notified within this discussion when we have any updates.

    Thanks, that’s helpful.

I’d also like to get a sense of when will the iOS app allow for using other cloud sync options besides Dropbox, like the new desktop app does? Do we have to wait until a big overhaul, or are you planning on making this change soon?

    Hi Paul,

The changes required to the mobile app to enable this ability are significant. I'm unable to provide a timescale for it when this feature will be added. The ability to sync with cloud services other than Dropbox has it's own suggestion ticket in our system. I've attached this ticket to this discussion so if this feature is added to Moneydance you will be notified.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks, Jenny. I understand.

Since this surfaced this summer (http://applehelpwriter.com/2016/07/28/revealing-dropboxs-dirty-little-security-hack/), I lost my last shred of respect for Dropbox and try to avoid using them at all costs. Even though Moneydance data is encrypted, and that the hack was stopped by Apple in Sierra, I'll be looking forward to Moneydance on iOS being updated to allow me not to use Dropbox.

Thanks for all the hard work.
