<p>Unfortunately investment accounts don't support split

<p>While the advice Scott gave is generally correct, "investment
accounts don't support split transactions" it is not completely
correct. Transactions of type Xfr in investment accounts can be
split.</p>
<p>Investment accounts also have a "Bank Register" view. If you
click on this view you will see all transactions in the investment
account of type Xfr. Here you can split them just as you would in a
bank account.</p>

<p>Thanks for the additional info, I think it is just what I
need.</p>
<p>However, in the meantime, I decided to clean up the data file in
Quicken<br>
and re-import it. Since I haven't found a way to remove the
original<br>
data file, I created a new file using File -> New. As soon as
I<br>
attempted to import the data (File -> Import) Moneydance
immediately<br>
shut down and its window disappeared. I tried this multiple times
just<br>
to make sure, it behaved the same each time. As soon as I clicked
on<br>
File -> Import the program shut down.</p>
<p>I attached the errlog.txt file to this email. The reference to
Carron<br>
Family Trust was the original data file, the Carron Trust was my
attempt<br>
to create a new file to import into.</p>
<p>At this point the only thing I can think of is to remove
Moneydance<br>
completely and download a fresh copy. Is that safe? Will my
original<br>
license key work? I don't want to have to buy the program
again.</p>
<p>Thanks,<br>

<p>That worked. Also, after I created an updated QIF file, I tested
it in<br>
Quicken by creating a new data file and populating it using the
QIF. The<br>
same errors I noted initially also occurred in Quicken, namely
a<br>
complete set of transactions got credit and debit reversed, so
I've<br>
concluded that that particular error is a defect in Quicken's
export.</p>
<p>That still leaves me with over a hundred transactions to
individually<br>
correct.:-(</p>
<p>Hopefully the remainder of the changeover will go well. Is
there<br>
anything in particular I should watch out for when setting up the
online<br>
banking part? It already works properly in Quicken so hopefully it
will<br>
be a straightforward process.</p>
<p>Thanks for the help.<br>

<p>I encrypted my data file and set a password. I've checked that I
do get<br>
prompted for the password when I start Moneydance.</p>
<p>My bank provides access to 5 accounts through one password.
Those 5<br>
accounts have counterparts in my Moneydance and I have linked
each<br>
account and entered the same password each time. I did NOT select
Forget<br>
Online Passwords.</p>
<p>When I select Online -> Download All Accounts I am prompted
to enter the<br>
password. After I enter the password, Moneydance downloads the data
for<br>
one account and prompts for the password again. This continues
until I<br>
have entered the password 5 times and Moneydance has downloaded the
data<br>
for all 5 accounts at that bank, even though Moneydance is supposed
to<br>
have the password for that bank stored.</p>
<p>Is that normal?</p>

<p>Can you send me the output of your console log? This can be

<p>When you encrypted your file via File -> Encryption, did you
remember to check the "Store online passwords in file" checkbox? If
you did, can you try disabling encryption, then closing and

check that checkbox, and see if the passwords are saved then?</p>
