I'm copying my last correspondence with Moneydance's Angie Rauscher, dated, 12/22/2013 (almost 3-yrs ago)

Don,

How odd, I can't imagine why your purchase has been declined twice. Please accept this complimentary key for Moneydance 2014 with our apologies: R309021-B4B8F76E . You can download Moneydance 2014 here. Due to some caching issues with OS X’s signature verification you'll need to restart your computer after downloading and installing the program in your Applications folder before you can open the program for the first time.

If your data file is in Moneydance 2011 and older format, which has the file extension ".md", you will need to convert it into the Moneydance 2014 format by following the instructions for Converting to Moneydance 2014 from an earlier version of Moneydance. If your data is in the Moneydance 2012 format, which has the file extension ".moneydance", your file will either be listed in the right hand pane of the "Welcome to Moneydance" window or you can navigate to it by clicking the "open other" button in the lower left hand corner of that window.

I hope this helps you to get back up and running, and if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. And a Merry Christmas to you as well!

'I would like to upgrade to the latest Moneydance 2017, and import my data qif file (backed-up, entitled, '16Jan2012'so I can continue updating my finances without losing 5-7 yrs of records. I would like to upgrade to the Moneydance 2017 version (from my 2014.5 version). Please send upgrading information and respective fees.

Looking forward to hearing from you. I've just purchased a new MacBookPro Retina and would like to continue my Moneydance relationship. Also I"m wondering if the current (latest, as of, Nov.9, 2016) has an app version that would allow me to look at categorized spending on a monthly basis, so I don't have to re-enter data on a 2nd spreadsheet.

Thanking you in advance,

    Hi Donald,

Your previous purchase entitles you to a discounted upgrade to Moneydance 2017, and you can enter your current license key into the 'Upgrading?' box on this page to receive the discount. You'll find instructions here for installing Moneydance 2017 and opening your data with this newer version.

If you'd like to transfer older Moneydance data, we'd always recommend moving the entire data set, rather than exporting the file as a QIF or any other format. Your data set is stored as a yourfilename.moneydance file. If you'd like to continue accessing your data from the original system, let me know and I'll provide instructions for sharing your data between the computers using Dropbox.

In regards to an app, we do have a mobile app available for Android and iOS devices. Currently, the app is an add-on to the main program and only has basic functions like viewing and editing transactions. We do have plans to bring more features and functionality to the app.

If you can provide details of the information you're entering into the spreadsheet, I may be able to advise a suitable report you can use. Reports can also be exported as 'tab delimited' or 'comma delimited' format (for use in spreadsheet software such as Excel or Numbers). Reports also contain a “Copy to Clipboard” button to more easily transfer data to a spreadsheet, where it can be amended further.

    Attention: Jenny
Thanks so much for your prompt response. I have updated my Moneydance 2014 version to the most current, 2017 version, and I believe, I'll updated all of my current data.
Here's my question, Jenny - If I want to keep my data separate, year-by-year, for comparative, and planning, purposes, how do I take what I have and separate it... by date?
Thanks so much...it's been such an inconvenience having a new laptop but having to 'bounce' back-and-forth between the old one, with the 2014 version, and my most current (version 2017) Moneydance version... I really like, and need, the month-by-month, category-by-category, summaries for reporting, planning, and investing purposes.
Hope you have a restful, relaxing weekend, Jenny,
    Don (McQueen)
