I am looking for a new Mac checkbook program and Money Dance is very well reviewed. I do have a couple of questions. Being able to enter transactions on my iPhone is essential and it is very helpful to be able to see budget categories as I am shopping as well. I see that you have an iOS app, but it has not been updated since 2014. What is your expected timeline for updating the app? Do you expect to have budget information available in the app?

My other questions have to do with notifications of scheduled transactions. Money Dance use the Notification Center? Can I receive notifications on my iPhone or by email, or do I have to open the program to see upcoming scheduled transactions?

Thank you for your assistance,

    Hi Theresa,

The Moneydance mobile app allows you to enter transactions while away from the main desktop program. Currently it does not support the use of budgets but we do have a suggestion ticket in our system regarding this. I will attach the ticket to this discussion so you are notified of any updates. We do have plans to release an updated version of the mobile app but I am unable to to supply a timescale for this. I can confirm that the mobile app will work with the latest release of the desktop version of Moneydance.

In regards to your scheduled transactions. You will be required to open the desktop version of Moneydance to view upcoming transactions. We do have a suggestion ticket for the inclusion of reminders in the mobile app, which I believe will meet your requirements. I have attached the suggestion ticket to this discussion.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program before you decide if you would like to purchase it. The demo version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test importing your data.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from here:
