Two Questions
1) does Moneydance download stock prices?
2) is there a converter from Quicken? including investment transactions.

Hi Dennis,
If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program. The demo version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test importing your data from Quicken.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions. You can download the trial version of Moneydance here.
The 'Quotes and Exchange Rates' extension downloads stock prices and exchange rates from Yahoo and Google. You can install this extension within Moneydance by navigating to to Extensions --> Manage Extensions. Once installed, select the Extensions menu (again) and select the 'Quotes and Exchange Rates' to configure.
When importing your data, if the QIF file format is available to you when exporting from Quicken, you should follow these steps. In particular make sure you specify to Import into a new account rather than an existing account. And you set the source to "From another program".
It is highly recommended to export all Quicken data into a single QIF file, as doing so makes the import process much smoother. Please use the option in Quicken to export "all accounts" if available. The one exception to this is if you have accounts in more than one currency - if thats the case, then you can follow these steps to import multiple QIF files.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance.

Thank you for your reply.
A few more questions
1) Can transactions be downloaded from Canadian Banks? The banks I deal
with (BMO & RBC) do not seem to have an option for Moneydance, they support
Quicken, Money (I assume Microsoft Money), csv and one of the Makisoft I
think.
2) What is the cost of Moneydance? On a Quicken blog, it was noted that the
cost for full service on Moneydance was $90 per month. I think that was
probably an error. Confirm?
3) Are your charges in CAD or USD?
Thank you

My take on your questions
Most banks around the world provide the facility to download transaction files, most commonly in formats like OFX, QIF etc etc. All of these can be imported into Moneydance, it is also possible to import CSV files but these are a little more involved as they are really just an undefined table of data.
The blog is talking rubbish, there are no monthly fees, there is a one time license cost of USD50 which generally includes a free upgrade to the next major release, plus 50% discount on upgrades past this.
Moneydance uses a third party payments processing company (BMT Micro) and they generally charge in USD

I am trying out your MoneyDance demo program. It does read my QIF file but
there does not seem to read the QDF file in which most of my data seems to
be. Is this because it is a demo or does MoneyDance not read QDF files?

I make a distinction between money in the bank and cash in my wallet.
MoneyDance seems to categorize money in the bank as "CASH" with no
provision for cash in the wallet. Is there a way of creating an account for
cash in the wallet?

QDF is a proprietary Quicken format, only Quicken can read these files.
You can just crate another account for your cash, some people set this up as a bank account. some set it up an an asset account.

I am not support staff, just a user.
QDF files are Quicken Data Files, this is a proprietary format that only Quicken products can read.
If you haven’t already take a look at the articles here http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/importing-data-from-banks-and-other... to help importing files such as QIF.
Also take a look at the articles relating to 2015 and 2017 at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb
The user guide for 2017 is not released yet so see 2015 at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/user-guides/moneydance-2015-user-guide
The way to handle cash in a wallet is under ACCOUNT – NEW ACCOUNT set up a “Bank Account” named say “My Wallet” and use this account not as a Bank account, but as a wallet.
Hope this helps.
