Effectively yes, but not necessarily in the way you would expect to see in traditional bookkeeping.
The transactions you post in moneydance must either be a transfer between accounts or must have a category, the other account or category is the other entry and it is created automatically. So what you are doing is entering one side of the transaction and the other side is being created for you.
