Repeating payments, password storage, sync progress indication
Repeating payments: I set up online banking with my Chase account, but none of the automatic repeating payments stored on the Chase server came over. In Quicken when I set up a repeating payment it was registered with the bank's server. And when I changed it at the bank, that change was reflected in Quicken. I don't see that capability in Moneydance. How do I get the repeating payments into the reminders so that they will contribute to the balance predictor?
When I synchronize an account the password for the account is requested. Can passwords be stored in Moneydance so I don't have to look them up with each synchronization?
When an account synchronization is initiated I see no indication that the synchronization is taking place. How can I tell that the synchronization is happening?

Hi Mark,
Can you provide some more information about these 'automatic payments' in your Chase account? It's possible that this function is available when using Web Connect or Express Web Connect. Moneydance supports Direct Connect - when you connect to your account in this way, Moneydance will download any and all available data on your banks server. I believe that generally, this is payments which have been processed and are no longer pending.
Within Moneydance you can navigate to File --> Passwords. In the window that opens you can set a 'Master Password' and have the option to 'Store Online Passwords in File'. Once you've enabled this option, you'll need to enter each password once more before it's remembered by the program.
Regarding 'account synchronization' - are you referring to the sync with your bank? When you attempt to download data automatically, you should see a message at the very bottom of the Moneydance window. This will display 'X Transactions have been downloaded' or something similar.
If you're referring to the sync with Dropbox - Within your Dropbox settings, select preferences then general. Enable 'Notify me about Synced Files' and you'll see a message pop up on your screen when a change is made.

Hi Jenny,
Wow. Sunday quick reply. Thanks for your help.
When I go to my Chase account and click Pay Bills, I can then go to a list pending payments or repeating payments. Both lists are all future payments. I just entered a future payment, dated May 31, through the Chase Bank PayBills page and synchronized both Quicken and Moneydance with Chase checking. In Quicken, the payment showed up in my Checkbook register, dated May 31, and in Moneydance it did not. No future, pending payments, listed in my Chase account synchronized into Moneydance.
Thank you for the information on passwords. Regarding in process indication, I was referring to the downloading of data from the bank. The message at the bottom is helpful and the downloading has been very quick, perhaps because it doesn’t go through an intermediate server, but there is no in-process indication. I assume that if the synchronization fails there will be an error message. This is a small thing though. The big issue is the pending payments synchronization.
Best regards,
Mark
