Hi Don,
Thank you for contacting us.
I would recommend following the steps written in this knowledge base article here as it shows all of the steps needed on the Quicken side and then on the Moneydance side.
Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks, Henry. I may have a more fundamental issue. In order to make the decision to buy, I was using the free sample Moneydance version, and import may be limited or turned off. That probably should have been my original question. Do you know if either are true conditions. Are there other restrictions I may be hitting?

Hi Don,
Using the demo version, the program is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test improrting data from Quicken, without hitting any limits.
If you feel you need to purchase the software to fully test the programs capabilities - we do offer a 90 day money back guarantee.
If after attempting the import, no data appears - this likely means some of the import settings were incorrect.
You should follow the steps outlined in this article to import the QIF file into Moneydance.
Make sure you follow the steps accurately, in particular, make sure you specify to Import into a new account rather than an existing account. And you set the source to "From another program".
It is highly recommended to export all Quicken data into a single QIF file, as doing so makes the import process much smoother. Please use the option in Quicken to export "all accounts" if available.
The one exception to this is if you have accounts in more than one currency - if thats the case, then you can follow the steps at the bottom of the article linked above, to export each account individually, and then import multiple QIF files.

Thanks support staff. The download worked and now I can test and most probably buy a copy for Ubuntu. Great job!

Support, has anyone requested on-line banking with Bank of America?
Another question: it appears that MD is not deducting the payments in my checking account. The amount is listed in column Payment Rate and all amounts are listed as positive. This was after downloading from Quicken.

Unfortunately, Bank of America dropped their support for direct OFX connections last year, which Moneydance requires in order to talk directly to a bank. The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QFX, OFX, OFC, or QIF files (sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance. You can also open your bank's download page directly (after entering the appropriate address in the Account->Edit Account menu) by going to the menu bar and selecting Online->Open Account Website. If they begin to support direct OFX connections again in the future, we will be happy to work with them.
Can you please describe the situation with the payments in more detail? Are these transactions in your checking account, and they are not affecting your balance? Or are they transactions somewhere else? Could you provide screenshots of what you are seeing? If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://take-a-screenshot.org/

Support, I was able to download the BoA records and update the MD account. This solves both issues.
Do you folks know why BoA dropped OFX? Was it a security issue(s)?
