missing security in portfolio view
I've imported years of Quicken Data. One investment appears in Register view but not in Portfolio View. The transaction to buy it looks like it imported correctly. I can create a new transaction to buy it and the security appears to have been added to the account. It is also shown when editing securities. Just not in Portfolio view or report.

If you go to the securities detail window can you select it from the scroll down menu?
Do you own shares of this security?
Please attache screen shots of your portfolio view and the securities detail window for this security to the thread.

Here is a screenshot of the register view with the purchase highlighted. ALso one of the detail view. The missing security cannot be seen here so the view defaults to the first security in the list..
Yes, I do own this iShares security..

The security detail says no shares are currently held, which is why it doesn't show on portfolio page.
Do you still own shares?

Tom,
Looks like the iShares stock has been sold at some time as I don't own
any any more.
Please Note the security detail shows Altagas (which I also no longer
own). The Register View I sent shows iShares US High Dividend CAD
Hedged. The latter is the one not visible reported in Portfolio view or
a Portfolio report for dates in 2014 when it was owned. It is also not
visible in the Tools/Securities list so I can't try to edit it. Altagas
is, however, in the securities edit list even though I no longer own it.
You refer to a pulldown menu in the detail page. I don't see this.
Thanks for your help,
Dave

In your picture of this window click on the double arrow in front of ALTAGAS to open pull down menu.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I see it now. It helped to read the manual.

Good catch Derek, I didn't notice that.
Is the ishares still missing from portfolio and reports? Can you attach a screen shot of the ishares security details window. If you click the edit button on the report window and toggle on by individual, does the ishares security show up?

The missing iShares security is now on a portfolio report of the correct vintage.. Either fixing some other badly imported transactions solved this problem as well as others or it was always there but I did not realize some iShares securities were where you would expect them alphabetically but others were at the end of the list in portfolio view of report. No idea why they are not all together but they are in 2 groups.

From the portfolio report if you double click the security, the security details page will open. Click history, then click edit, The edit security window will open.
You want to do this for both instances of ishares and confirm that the security ID and security name are the same. if you were doing direct downloads into your quicken, the broker may have altered how they identified the security. This is especially true if you had been downloading for many years. While your Quicken was told to view these as the same, when importing to Moneydance, the app recognized these as two different securities.
If this is the case, let me know how you are bringing these transactions into md, manually, qif import, direct connect?

Tom,
I found a few of the iShares securities had a 1 appended to the
Moneydance ID. However fixing this made no difference. Attached is a
screenshot of portfolio view. The top two securities are iShares where
they nbelong. TH bottom bunch are the iShares securities for some reason
at the end. If you go Tools/Securities, the list of securities shows all
iShares securities together in the right place.
This problem is only an annoyance unless it is an indication of
something more significant.

I note that the top set of IShates use a upper case “I” whereas the iShares at the bottom use a lower case “i”. I think this could explain the sorting issue.
Hope this helps.

Derek,
Good catch. You are right. After replacing I with i, the various iShares
ETF's a now all together at the end (after restarting Moneydance). Why
at the end makes no sense to me and why the problem never showed up on
the Tools/Securities list remain a mystery.
Thanks
Dave

How about A to Z followed by a to z, alphabetical order sorting.
