Moneydance will not open download from Amazon and installation
I purchased Moneydance through Amazon. I downloaded it and installed it. It opened and I looked at it for a while. But, it would only display certain transactions from January 1, 2018 to date. I then gave it the activation code shown on the Amazon site and it opened with more data, but not the complete file I moved from Quicken.
I shut Moneydance down and tried reopening it and it would not show on the monitor, although it shows in Task Manager using Memory and some CPU, but still no image on a monitor. I have several monitors installed on this computer and I tried some of the tricks shown when I googled the condition, but still no response.
Can you help, please?
Thanks
Bill Stierwalt

Hello Bill,
The most common reason only transactions from the current year would be displayed in a register would be if one had this 'This Year' or one of the other filter buttons at the top of the register active. Make sure the 'All' option is selected.
On the now larger issue, can you try resetting your Moneydance preferences and see if that fixes the issue that you're seeing? To do this, you have to rename your config.dict file. If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict
or:
Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go>Go to Folder> and type in:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:/Users/(yourusername)/.moneydance/config.dict
Once you've found your config.dict file, close Moneydance and rename it (to something like config2.dict, for example), then open Moneydance again and it will appear as though you've just installed Moneydance for the first time, so you'll have to re-enter your license key and may have to locate and open your data set again. If you run into any problems, you can simply close Moneydance and rename the original config.dict file back to config.dict and open Moneydance again to restore your original settings.
If that doesn't work, can you send me your errlog.txt file? If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
or:
Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and type in:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:/Users/(yourusername)/.moneydance/errlog.txt

Ethan:
Thank you for your help. I now have the program open.
However, on the account screen, only the transfer payments from my bank account show, the original charges. I am suspecting the file I downloaded from Quicken, but am not sure.
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you

Hello Bill,
I'm glad to hear the program is working again.
Let's take a step back with the transactions. It sounds like you're importing your data from Quicken. Did you follow the import instructions at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/importing-data-from-other-programs/...? It sounds like you may have a partial import, so try those instructions in case you haven't already.

Thanks, it makes sense that I have a partial import. I will try reading the instructions and make sure I have done it correctly without bothering you further. You have already provided more support in this last couple of hours than I have had with Quicken over at least ten years.

I am sorry to be so stupid, but I have now partially figured out that I must download individual files from Quicken, they are not exporting all account. I can do that.
However, Moneydance still opens once, but if you close it, it will not reopen, although it is running in Task Manager, using a lot of memory. I am attaching the errorlog file in hopes that you can help interpret it.
Thank you
