MD downloads duplicate data
After importing my latest QIF data file to Moneydance, I set up my online accounts and as a last step I selected Online > Download acct-name Transactions to make sure that the bank access data was set up correctly.
The setup part worked nicely. Unfortunately, MD proceeded to download a bunch of recent transactions that had already been downloaded in Quicken. This created a large number of duplicate transactions.
I was able to delete all the duplicates by clicking on "Unconfirmed", selecting all transactions and deleting them. Re-doing the Download, however, re-downloaded the same transactions again.
How can this be fixed?
Is there any way to explicitly reset the (presumed) 'last download
state' in MD??
By the way, I am running MD on a Macbook Pro (Intel)
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 x86_64
Java: 1.6.0_20 (Apple Inc.)
I am using a trial version of MD and will buy it as soon as this
issue is resolved !
thanks,
george.

Oops !
While re-reading the fine manual, the "Tip:" under the heading "Matching Downloaded and Imported Transactions" jumped up a bit me:
"To have Moneydance automatically merge matching transactions go to Moneydance → Preferences → Network and check the “Automatically Merge Downloaded Transactions” option."
After "correcting" the preference settings, MD did, in fact, identify the matching/duplicate transactions and provided the opportunity to MERGE them. After merging the transactions I did the Download again and MD found no new transactions, so all is well.
Problem resolved.
Sorry - beginner's mistake [blush].
