My WiFi syncing stopped working after working for many many months. Please do not suggest DropBox as I do not want to use that method. Here is the console log:

    Hi Pierre,

Have you installed any software recently that might be blocking Moneydance's access to the internet? Your log data is suggesting to me that Moneydance might not be able to access either the internet or has been restricted from having the ability to use the network discovery services to find any Apple iDevices that you're using to sync with Moneydance. If you go to Extensions -> Manage extensions, does the list of extensions open? Can you also check Moneydance's ability to connect to the internet by selecting a bank account on the left sidebar column, then going to Online -> Set up online banking, clicking the New Connection button and checking to see if the list of financial institutions downloads from the internet.

Also, have you updated Mac OS X recently? Did you do that before Wifi syncing stopped working? I'm wondering if an update may have caused the issue.

    Hi Scott,
I am able to open the list of extensions from the Manage Extension menu. Also, I can see the list of financial institutions when I click the New Connection button. I am not aware of any applications that I would have installed during the time when the sync functionality stopped working. I don't recall when I performed the OS X 10.8.5 update and if it has any correlation with the syncing problem. What are the next steps?

    Thx,
    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,

I'm wondering if this is an issue with Java. If you have your data set(s) stored in Moneydance's internal Documents folder, can you go to Help -> Show Documents Folder, then close Moneydance and move the data set(s) to a different folder outside of Moneydance's internal location (like to the Documents folder in your Home directory, for example). After doing that, then download the 10.6 and below version of Moneydance 2012 from here:

    http://infinitekind.com/downloads

This version is identical to the 10.7 and above version, but uses your system Java (which is most likely Apple's) instead of Moneydance's bundled Java, along with a few other minor differences. After that, launch the 10.6 and below version of Moneydance, use the Open Other button on the Welcome screen or File -> Open -> Open Other function in the main Moneydance window and open your data set(s) that you moved from the 10.7 and above version of Moneydance, and see if you're able to sync again.

You may need to re-enter your license key and reconfigure Moneydance after switching to the 10.6 and below version.

If that doesn't work, have you tried forgetting the device in the Network Sync extension and trying to re-add it? Also, have you tried syncing the two on another Wifi network (maybe at a cafe or somewhere else with Wifi) to see if it syncs then? Unfortunately it is possible that there's an issue with you're network that we won't be able to fix with the Wifi syncing.

    Hi Scott,
I moved the data set, downgraded to 10.6 and was able to add my device in the WiFi tab of the Network Sync Settings. (I had previously removed the device when attempting to troubleshoot the problem) The synchronization is now working properly. It would appear that your hunch about Java was correct. I hope this will not be an issue when future versions of Moneydance are released.

    Thank you for your help,
    Pierre
