Regarding backups:
You can find your backups by opening Moneydance and navigating to Help then choosing Show Archive Folder.
The backup files end in .moneydancearchive
You can also find the backup files here:
/Users/(Username)/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/archive

I fear I will have to recreate all of the work i did. Not fun.

What actually "triggers" a backup to occur? When I make changes then quit the MD app the data syncs to Dropbox - no problem with syncing but I'm not seeing anything that says my data is being backed up to the location I designated in preferences. I also expect to see - but can't find - a menu option to "backup now".
Does MD NOT have an automated backup feature when you close or quit the app???? The "export backup" worked but I shouldn't have to do that.
So I quickly saved it in a different place, then I added more info to that version and saved it again. Today, I went to open that version, and Moneydance won't even open it (it is grayed out). It appears to be a TextEdit file. What is going on?? Is all my work just lost?

Elizabeth Sanderstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/429955772017-07-18T11:47:18Z2017-07-18T11:47:18ZCan't find latest backup

Hi Elizabeth,

I apologise for the delayed response.
When Moneydance is closed a backup is initiated, you can find the exact location in the preferences(you can also choose to have a different one), while in the preferences you need to open the Backup tab and at the bottom it will show you the current location.

Can you open the version on you second computer and navigate to File then Export backup as well as navigate to File an choose Export and select the file format as QIF?
This should allow us to import it to the first computer.

I've looked at the backups, which are old, and opened Moneydance on my other computer (which should be synced via Dropbox Connection) - that opened the same version of my files as the first computer, ignoring hours of work.

What can I do to recover such work? I know that it was saving & syncing as I was doing the work.

jajasoon
