Thank you for contacting us.
When you enable syncing in Moneydance, it creates a unique folder for the currently open data set in a special (hidden) folder. If you use Dropbox for syncing (as either a connection or folder) you can most easily view these hidden folders here: https://www.dropbox.com/home/.moneydancesync
Moneydance reads and writes to that folder in such a way that there will never be any conflicts. Filenames are unique and the data is encrypted using your sync key.

Your first computer should have the data file (name you have given).moneydance and is the initiator of the syncing, while you second computer shouldn't have the data file and should be accessing the unique sync file that was created on dropbox called .moneydancesync
that is also the reason why those option isn't available on the second computer.

I then imported the archive file, re-entered the license key and I still cannot select anything on the File/Syncing menu selection. It still says Don't Sync. What am I missing?

zagatag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/430691642017-07-26T11:46:49Z2017-07-26T11:46:49ZChanging Sync Location

Can you try upgrading to the latest version of Moneydance on both computers from here:
https://infinitekind.com/downloads

and would it be possible to open a new data file on the main computer and select to Restore from backup choosing the archive file. That should have the right setup.
Once that's done you should be able to navigate to File then Syncing and enable syncing by following the instructions here.

Selected New File and made a dummy file called Test. Entered license key. Restored from my Saved Archive. File/Syncing still says Don't Sync and I can't select anything.

zagatag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/430691642017-07-26T12:11:53Z2017-07-26T12:11:53ZChanging Sync Location

I think there may be an issue with your Settings file, within your data set. We should be able to remove the Settings file and then Moneydance will recreate the file and you will be able to access these options again.

Navigate to your Moneydance data file, If stored in the default location you can find it by navigating within Moneydance to Help --> Show Documents Folder. Then close Moneydance.

Open the folder of your data file then select the folder called 'safe' and you should see a file called 'Settings'. Can you delete the settings file, then navigate back out of the file contents.

Then re-open Moneydance, are these options now available to you?
